This guide started because setting up to take a card online should be the clearest part of running a small shop, and too often it is not. People kept asking the same plain questions — where do I begin, what does the screen want, and how do I know it is really the official site? So we wrote the steady guide we wished we had.

Everything here is written for someone who wants a straight, safe answer. We walk the service and the seller dashboard in the order people meet them, and we say, every time, to start at the official site.
